Join me as we explore Maui's dormant volcano Haleakala. Haleakala is sacred in Hawaiian culture. One look at the volcanic crater and you'll understand why. Join me on a sunset astro photography tour where we will hike into the crater for sunset and shoot twilight, star and milky way images above Haleakala.
WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?
This workshop is open to all skill levels. Photographically speaking, the trip is open to anyone that loves the art of photography. Some moderate hiking and walking is involved. This workshop is in high elevation 10,000ft. This workshop goes into the night where the temperatures can fall below 40 degrees.
Workshop Instructor
Collin leads private workshops in Hawaii and has helped many clients hone their skills and find their artistic vision. He has a passion for adventure and loves teaching what he has learned over the years from trial and error. In this workshop we'll create stunning compositions using the rule of thirds and simplicity and when to break the rules. I'll teach you how to shoot in manual mode and how to control your (Shutter speed, aperture, ISO, depth of field). How to choose the correct lens for the scenes composition and lighting. How to find unique foreground elements (anchor points) to enrich the story of the scene. How to create compelling abstract images. I'll also teach you some of the basics of panorama photography as well as some of the more technical ways to capture a scene (focus stacking, exposure blending).

- Lenses: For astro photography preferably a Wide Angle f2.8,16-35mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm
- Extra camera batteries
- Memory Cards
- Filters - Polarizing Filter (CPL), Graduated ND Filters and Solid ND filters for long exposures (10 stop)
- Warm jacket, beanie, long pants and backpack
- Hiking shoes, warm socks, snacks and water bottle
- Anything else you'd normally take to shoot photos
